Marketing: Can You Get Rich Quick?

April 30th, 2010

Are you familiar with the story The Tortoise and The Hare?

It’s a classic Aesop fable about a hare who one day ridiculed a slow-moving tortoise. In response, the prideful tortoise challenged his much faster mocker to a race.

Not unexpectedly, the hare soon left the tortoise in the dust. In fact, the hare was so far ahead and confident of winning, he decided to take a nap halfway to the finish line.

Alas, when he awoke, however, he found that the competitor he had mocked, crawling slowly but steadily, had already won the race.

The moral of the story is:

“Slow and steady wins the race.”

Six simple words, profound in their simplicity.

So what does any of this have to do with marketing?

I was getting to that. I remember when I first got involved in marketing many years ago. I wanted to be successful immediately. I didn’t know how to get there, but I knew I wanted to get there fast.

And I didn’t want to have to work at it.

Well, eventually I did become successful. But it didn’t happen overnight. I had to learn the ropes - pay my dues so to speak. And part of paying my dues included learning how to be successful through trial and error.

And yes, heartbreak and pain.

Because the best thing that can happen to you on the road to success is profound failure. Failure can shake you up - shock you to the core. Humble you.

But failure is okay as long as you learn from your mistakes.

I remember an old adage from my childhood, and I never forgot it:

“Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”

Truer words have never been spoken. You see, I was like so many young people who had come before me. I had the ignorance and impatience of youth. I wanted instant gratification. I wanted the gold, and I wanted it now!

But I had to learn the hard way that “all that glitters is not gold!”

You see marketing isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon. It’s not about who can explode quickest out the gate. It’s about who can last the longest over time.

But you’d never know that by reading some of the outrageous “get rich quick” advertising that is so prevalent these days. You know the ads that I’m talking about:

“Make $30,000 in 30 Days With My Secret Program!”

“Make a Million Dollars in 12 Months Guaranteed!”

“Double, Triple, Quadruple Your Income Overnight!”

Let me tell you something about those ads. 99 percent of them are pure, unadulterated garbage - a pack of lies designed to steal your hard-earned money!

Sometimes brilliant copywriting created to sell you a bogus dream that you didn’t even know you had.

The truth of the matter is success takes time, and it requires hard work. Always has, always will. There are no shortcuts, and if someone tells you otherwise…

They’re probably trying to sell you something!

How to Get Male Abs

April 30th, 2010

There is one very important thing that supplement companies, exercise machine manufacturers, and exercise program developers do not dare tell their abs training-obsessed male customers: they already have male abs. That’s right. Males (and females!) already have abs - everyone’s born with their very own set of abdominals. The only reason you don’t see your abs is because they are currently being held captive and covered by pounds of excess fat that lies in your belly. If everyone were only made aware of this fact, no doubt people would pay more attention to regular exercise and proper diet than to so-called miracle solutions.

So, how exactly can you see your male abs again? The answer is easy, but the way to get there can be difficult without discipline and the right information. In order to make your abs visible again for the world to see, the first thing you need to do is, obviously, lose weight. If you keep piling on the pounds, your abs will remain hidden under your love handles and may never see the light of day again. Of course, finally losing weight is not the end of the journey. You need to train your abdominals in order to sculpt them and make them clearly noticeable. Training your abdominals also means toning and strengthening your male abs.

Most males actually already have more than decent abdominal muscles. The only problem is that these muscles remain dormant from lack of use or exercise. Naturally, you’ll have a hard time working on your male abs if you feel heavy and have layers of fat yet to get rid of.

Fitness experts suggest following a strict diet before plunging right ahead into an abs training regimen. The best kind of food group to invest on is carbohydrates because these are body-building nutrients. Cut back on fat but don’t skip out on meals - this will only lead to starvation and consequent binging. Instead, spread out your meals all throughout the day: take small servings and eat frequently as opposed to having three full meals.

Once you have slimmed down a bit (you’ll lose more weight during your training), it’s time to get down to business and exercise. An exercise session that lasts for at least 20 to 30 minutes thrice a week is a good start. This will burn off the remaining excess fat that may hinder you from effectively working on your male abs. Some abs trainer make the mistake of continuing their bad eating habits after they have engaged in abs training, thinking they are burning any additional calories with the exercises. If you keep eating more, you wouldn’t be able to get results at all. Always pair the exercises with proper diet.

Training the abs can be quite tricky because you need to use a proven program in order to learn all the secrets to achieve six pack male abs. Ask a fitness expert, as well as your physician, for advice and do some research on your own to find out about useful techniques for the appropriate abs training for you.

How to Get 6 Pack Abs

April 29th, 2010

Getting nice abs is something most people dream about. Most people think they are stuck with terrible genetics and will never have the opportunity to get the body of their dreams. While having the right genetics is definitely a plus, you aren’t doomed to an eternity of love handles if you don’t.

Usually there are two major problems people have when it comes to getting nice abs. I’ve put them in two categories to make it easier to understand.

The first category is people who don’t have abs because they have an extra layer of fat on their stomach area. It doesn’t matter how much muscle you have. If you haven’t stripped of the layer of fat around the stomach you’ll look like you haven’t worked out in years.

The key to seeing your abs is to get rid of that first layer of fat. Once you do that you’ll soon be able to see your washboard abs. Not to mention you’ll be walking around all day with your shirt off.

The second category of people wanting nice abs are those who are too skinny. I know it may sound like an oxymoron to most people. The truth is that people who are too skinny don’t have any muscle development in their abdominal region.

The only way they can overcome this is by doing the right exercise. When it comes to getting nice, chiseled abs not all exercises are created equal either. In fact, you can do all of the sit-up and crunches you want but you still won’t have nice abs.

So don’t worry that you don’t have the abs that make you feel like everyone is staring when you have your shirt off. The truth is with a little sweat equity you’ll have the body of your dreams.

The Real Way to Get Six-pack Abs

April 29th, 2010

It can be extremely difficult for average consumers such as myself to sift through all the claims and schemes that are supposed to get your abs ripped and in shape. If you’re reading this, you get to benefit from all of the trial and error I’ve had to go through to find out what really works and what is just a bunch overhyped sales garbage.

After seeing supposed “miracle products” on infomercials (the ab lounge to name one), I decided to give it a shot. After ordering the product (quite expensive) and waiting weeks for it to arrive, I was quite disappointed when I tried it out. It seemed to hardly put strain on the abs at all, mostly employing other muscles in the shoulders and legs to do the brunt of the work. Nonetheless I decided to try it for two months just to verify what I had suspected. At the end of the two months I didn’t notice any difference in my abs whatsoever. As you would expect, the other “miracle products” on infomercials I tried after this turned out the same way. No Progress.

The main fault I see with most of these contraptions is they usually boast something like this: “The (insert product here) makes the motion of the sit-up easier to start and more comfortable”. The problem I see with this is that the tension in your abs is what works them. These devices may make it so you can do a lot more reps easily, but what is the use if it is putting a lot less strain in your abs? The burn is what tells you you’ve worked your abs well. Also, all of these products usually focus around the sit-up motion. I don’t think this is the best approach to getting good results in any reasonable amount of time.

After these failures, I concluded that the quick shortcuts were probably not going to work. I began looking into ab programs. I would see some that would claim to have one “special exercise” that would give you a six-pack. After my experience with the shortcuts before, I decided to shy away from these.

Then one day I came across a program that gives an all-around approach to getting defined abs called “Truth About Abs“. It included the nutritional aspect, how to lose the fat that covers up your abdominals, and an exercise program that carves your abs into top shape that doesn’t revolve around doing sit-ups or the sit up motion. This seemed like the one to try. Since it was only about $40 and there was a full money back guarantee if I wasn’t satisfied, I figured that I had nothing to lose. Most of those ab products cost me 3 times the amount and usually didn’t offer any guarantee.

I instantly was granted access to the information of the program, and started right away. Everything is outlined for you step by step so all you have to do is follow the program. I was amazed that I had never heard of some of the exercises they provided that would flex my abs so intently. I followed the plan diligently and after 3 weeks my abs were so much more visable that I couldn’t believe it. I had a very well defined four-pack and this was only after 3 weeks! This inspired me to stay strict on the plan and by week 7 I had an incredible 6-pack! I couldn’t believe it. I had never thought I would be capable of having an extremely defined six pack. I was just completely overwelmed with how well this program worked.

I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking for a way to really get their midsection into shape. Anyone can get defined abs if you just follow their fully outlined program. I think it’s worth it for anyone to give it a try, because it’s so much cheaper than those falsely advertised ab contraptions and you can get your money back if you don’t like the program. Click the link below if you want to learn more or try the program for yourself.

Why Does Everyone Do Ab Exercises Hoping To Get Ripped Abs?

April 29th, 2010

Listen…  I’ve got ripped abs.  I never thought I’d get ripped abs.  I worked for years doing every ab exercise known to mankind hoping to see those babies pop.  They never did.  Then I discovered the real trick.  Ab exercises don’t give you ripped abs.  But some exercises will.  And they’re not what you think.

These are my VERY favorite ab exercises that are not “ab exercises”…

Deadlifts.  MAN, can you feel this in your abdominals.  A good full body exercise that not only hits your abs HARD but works most body parts and jacks your heart rate through the roof.  Nothing bad about this one, except that it’s hard… which is good.  Understand?  Stand in front of a bar that is on the floor, bend at the hips, grab the bar, keep your head up, look yourself in the eyes in the mirror, keep the bar close to your shins and your back flat.  Bend at the hip to get to a standing position.  Bar now at your thighs.  Yum.

Squat Cleans (add a press at the top if you want to be really cool).  See above.  Harder than hell to accomplish, uses pretty much every muscle group in the entire body and hits your abs DAMN hard (Am I swearing too much? Can you tell I really mean it?  Good.)  Basically you start holding the bar at your thighs, then you squat to get under the bar at the same time you clean it up to your shoulders. So now you are in a deep squat with the bar at your shoulders.  Then stand.  Then press.  OUCH!

Renegade Rows.  Another full body move.  Are you catching the theme here?  Full body moves, people… FULL… BODY… MOVES.  You want abs?  Get your body involved, because getting abs has got NOTHING to do with your abs!!  But I digress.  Get into a push up position, but support your hands on two dumbbells.  This is commonly mistaken for a back workout. No, this one is all about your core.  So don’t make the dumbbells too heavy. The trick is to stay in a dead straight pushup stance while rowing one dumbbell at a time up to your chest.  DON’T let your body sway or your feet lift off the ground.  Man does that get your core strong fast.

Now, THAT’S how I got ripped abs.  No more wimpy crunches and ab rollers for me.  I know better!

How Bodybuilders Build a Strong Back by Building Strong Abs First

April 29th, 2010

Here a few thoughts on muscle balance in a workout, focusing on abdomen and lower back muscles. Whenever training you must be very careful not to build one muscle much more than the other muscles surrounding or associated with the muscle group that you are training. If you do this, you create a greater risk of injuring the muscle you left weaker by not training it in sync, or equally with the others. A very crucial and pertinent example of counterbalancing when weight training concerns the abdomen and the lower back. A strong stomach equals a strong back.

You need to understand the basic concept that strong abs not only give you better posture, but strengthening the abdomen muscles can definitely prevent the occurrence of lower back injuries. Now, most instruction given for ab workouts start with cardio vascular training. This is because the rational to most abdomen workouts is that you end up with that famous “six pack”. If you don’t do the proper training to burn the layer of fat covering the abdomen, then the six pack of coarse… doesn’t show.

That being said, for the purposes of this intsruction we will not concentrate on showing off the six pack. This is going to concentrate more on strengthening the abdomen which in turn will be causing the back, primarily the lower back, to become much stronger. This ab routine is going to seem different than most training for abs, because with this routine, abs are going to be worked with weight. Normally sit ups, crunches, and leg raises are done in sets of 30, 40, 50 or more. Of coarse this builds stamina in the muscle and causes the muscle to become more defined, or cut. What we are going for with this workout are much less reps -what you can comfortably do as in the typical exercises but only accomplishing ten, to no more than fifteen reps.

Doing a traditional sit up to start with, go for six to eight sets with a weight, say a plate placed on the chest with your arms crossed over it, that allows you to do 10 to 15 reps per set. Rest two to three minutes between sets. Remember, like with the training of any muscle or muscle group, give yourself a day to completely recover before working that muscle group again. To get the lower end of the abdomen muscle, lay flat on your back, and again to achieve strength, balance a plate on the shins as you do 10 to 15 reps of leg raises.

You can place you hands under you butt for balance, although keeping them by your sides will add a level of difficulty to the exercise. To concentrate on the upper abdomens, support your upper body like you would for dips. With a weight at the feet, either ankle weights, or even a triceps extension bar with the feet hooked through, raise the knees as high as possible. Give an extra squeeze at the peak of the contraction, with all three of these exercises.

Before even starting the other exercises associated with power lifting it is recommended that you perform at least 6 or seven workouts of at least 3 to 5 sets each of mid, lower, and upper abdomen exercises with weight. This will assure a very strong abdomen that will help to prevent injury to the back, especially the lower back, when doing the exercises that will strengthen the back, legs and other required muscle groups in order to perform the deadlift and squat. When doing abdomen strength training be sure to do sit ups for the mid abdomen, leg raises for the lower abdomen, and suspended leg raises for the upper abs. Do all the sets with weight, performing only 10 to 15 reps per set to failure. Continue these exercises when training for the power lifting lifts; squat and dead lift.
